On Saturday 7/13 we stopped in Lewiston, MT. It was a warm Sunny afternoon and we were planning our dinner meal when the wind picked up and the skies got dark and the storm rolled in very quickly. The wind blew hard enough the it was rocking the coach and making it very uncomfortable. The rain was going sideways and then pea sized hail started pounding the top and sides of the coach.
With the wind the rain and the hail it was very noisy and a little scary.

Eventually the stormed passed, the campground was flooded in many areas but our site was above the water line. Upon inspection there was little damage except of the slide topper on the passenger side of the coach. It had appeared to have been lifted off it's mounting bracket twisted and cover had come loose. I was able to replace it on the mounting bracket and and duct tape the loose pieces. We have a RV mobile repair tech coming today to put it back together.
The highlight of the trip was our visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park (Badlands) in Medora, ND. After parking the coach at a nearby RV park we were able to visit the Visitors Center and take a self driving of the Park.
The visitors center provided some background on how Roosevelt came to Medora after the deaths of both his Mother and Wife (in childbirth) on the same day. His time in the badlands were a time of recovery and renewal.
Much later in life he stated that the time in the Badlands prepared him for his Presidency. This time also made him realize how important it is to preserve these treasures for future generations and he became an advocate for the National Parks preservation.
.The driving tour was very interesting and quite beautiful. The scenery was something very different from other place we have been. The was a variety of wildlife ranging from prairie dogs to buffalo including wild horses and a lone coyote.
